Beginner Package
Approx. 4 hours of private instruction and fly-fishing.
If you have never fly fished before this is the package for you. The beginner package includes a detailed introduction into the art of fly fishing. The class encludes basic entomology, casting, knots and fly fishing techniques and strategies used on the Kern River and most western freestone streams. Most of the class takes place on the water. (Includes waders and all equipment)

The dry fly fishing on the south fork of the Kern River in the South Sierra Wilderness and Golden Trout Wilderness is as good as it gets. Most anglers are in search of the native Golden Trout which are considered by many to be the most beautiful trout in the world. There are also Brown trout in the south fork of the Kern River that many people enjoy catching as well. No horseback riding here...let us take care of you in style; we will transport you in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle to your first-class camping accomodations as you embark on this fishing adventure. You can fish all day, or relax by the river and listen to the calming sounds of the South Fork. All our of 4x4 trips include delicious meals prepared by a professional cook, your very own fly fishing guide, spacious tent with comfortable sleeping cot and all fly fishing gear if needed. Please bring your sleeping bag and any other personal gear. All of our trips are booked on a 4 person minimum and take place from June through November. If you are a single angler and wish to go on one of these 4x4 trips, simply contact us and let us know when you can go and we will put you on a trip that is available. Below are some of the 4x4 trips we offer into the Inyo National Forest, South Sierra Wilderness and Golden Trout Wilderness.

The fly fishing on the upper Kern River is legendary and Kern River Fly Fishing offers guided pack trips into the Golden Trout Wilderness by horseback and pack animals to fly fish for native Kern River Rainbow Trout, Little Kern Golden Trout and our state fish, "The Golden Trout" in some of the most beautiful places found on earth. Pack trips include all meals, fly fishing guide, packers, cooks, horse and pack animal. All you need to bring is your fly rod, sleeping bag and whatever gear you need to bring. We would like you to keep the total weight of your gear around 40 pounds.This is a fly fishing trip of a lifetime and great trip for the whole family. The camping on the north fork of the Kern River in the Sequoia National Forest is an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. Let us take care of you in style; we will take care of all the logistics for your camping trip. You can fish all day, or relax by the river and listen to the calming sounds of the North Fork. All of our camping trips include delicious meals prepared by a professional chef, spacious 10x10x7ft tall tent with very comfortable extra large sleeping cot and pad. Flushing toilets and shower room are provided as well. Please bring your sleeping bag and any other personal gear. All of our trips are booked on a 4 person minimum and take place year round. We practice ECO- friendly camping on all of our trips. Pack it in -Pack it out! Below are some of the camping trips we offer into the Sequoia and Inyo National Forest. .

Kern River Fly Fly Fishing School
The premier fly fishing school in the Sierra Nevada offers the beginning first time fly fisher the hands on basics of fly fishing. The school takes place on the stream or river and in the classroom.The student walks away with the knowledge and skills to fly fish any river or stream in the world. The class includes: trout ecology, entomology, casting, fly selection, fly fishing techniques and strategies, leader and tippet construction, knots, water reading, gear and equipment. The 2 day school is from 8am to 5pm, with a lunch break at 12noon. All gear is provided, but if you have your own, please bring it to the class. The school is taught by a Certified Fly Casting Instructor with the Federation of Fly Fishers

Certified Fly Casting Instructor, Guy Jeans, does muti-media presentations for various organizations about the Southern Sierra and the fly fishing opportunities in the Kern River Valley. His presentation includes the areas in and around the Southern Sierra including:
Upper Kern River –Wild Trout Section, Hole in the Ground, Kern Lakes, and Grasshopper Flat in the Golden Trout Wilderness, Kern Plateau, Little Kern River, South Fork Kern River, Rock House Basin in the Domeland Wilderness, Lake Isabella, Lower Kern River and the Greenhorn Mountain Range. Topics include: local entomology and strategies for fly fishing the different areas.
$600.00 per presentation, plus travel expenses.

Booking/Cancellation Policy
Please secure your reservation with a Visa/MC. A full deposit by personal check or money order is required within 30 days of your scheduled trip date. All rates quoted are cash or check prices. Booking your trip confirms acceptance of our cancellation policy.
In the event of your cancellation:
1. Your deposit is fully refundable prior to 14 days of your scheduled trip date (30 days for multi-day or multi-guide trips)
2. For cancellations within 14 days of the trip, (30 days for multi day or multi-guide trips) the full amount is non-refundable. Weather...as a reminder, fishing is an outdoor activity and you must come prepared for the elements.
We do not issue rain checks/cancellations for inclement weather conditions.
