Learn How To Fly Fish 2-Day Class

Are you interested in learning to fly fish? Have you ever wondered why those fly anglers are catching so many fish? Are you intrigued by the way the fly line looks while it flies through the air? Do you love the way the river sounds as it cascades over pools and riffles? Do you love the outdoors? Do you like challenges? Then this is the school for you! Learn How to Fly Fish 2-Day Class is a class for the beginning fly fisher to learn the basics of fly fishing. The school covers fly casting, entomology, fly fishing techniques, strategies, knots and leader construction, fly selection, wading and safety, Southern Sierra fish species to catch on a fly, gear & equipment, basic fly tying, where to find fish, etiquette and of course catching and releasing fish. At the end of the class you should be able to confidently approach a trout stream, read the water, tie on the right fly and make a decent cast. With any luck you might even catch some fish! You will need a fishing license for this class. Cost of the class covers text books and all gear & equipment needed.

You know the basics and you want to learn more. The more you learn the more intrigued you get. Isn’t that the truth about fly fishing? The intermediate school is designed for the angler who wants to learn more and get even better at this amazing sport. The class studies a deeper level of entomology, intermediate casting techniques, nymphing techniques & strategies, streamer techniques & strategies, dry fly techniques & strategies, mending techniques, dead drifting, trout location and techniques for other Southern Sierra fish species besides trout. The best part about our school and classes are they all take place in the best classroom in the state and that's right on the beautiful Kern River. Cost of the class covers all text books and gear if needed.

Advanced Fly Fishing 1-Day Class:

Advanced Fly Fishing 1-Day Class
You have taken the beginner class and the intermediate class and are ready to move on to European nymphing techniques and advanced streamer techniques. Learn the knots and rigs used for better drifting and stripping of your flies. Learn advanced casts and mending techniques to catch more fish. Learn to fish, analyze and grid the river in ways to catch more fish. Learn strategies and fly selection for "educated fish" that are hard to catch and who are very selective about what they are eating. Lots of time on the water learning and refining techniques and casts. You will leave this class with the skills and confidence to fly fish any trout water in the world. Limited to 6 students per class and every class is taught by F.F.F. Certified Fly Casting Instructor, Guy Jeans on the Kern River.

The Ladies 2-Day Fly Fishing Class is for the beginner or intermediate-level student. Ladies who are interested in learning how to fly fish and/or learning more skills and techniques about fly fishing will benefit from this class. The class takes women from the very basics of casting to actually fly fishing on the river. The class teaches basic entomology, knots, casting, fly fishing techniques & strategies . The school includes all text books, gear and equipment needed. Students will need a fishing license for this class. The class starts at 9am and ends at 5pm for both days.

Nymphing and Streamers 1-Day Class

The ultimate experience in fly fishing is to see a fish rise to a fly floating on the surface and take it. Unfortunately, this only happens some of the time, because most of the fish are feeding under the surface of the water. The fly angler that knows how to nymph and streamer fish, not only has more oppurtunities to catch more fish, but will have more oppurtunities to catch bigger fish. This one day class will give you the knowledge to become a more effective and productive fly fisher on any trout stream or river in the world. The class will teach you how to read the water, approach the stream and make an educated guess on how and where to fish and what flies to select and use. You will learn the knots that give your flies the best presentation and drift.You will also learn European nymphing techniques that are deadly on any trout stream.Taking this class will change the way you fly fish and increase your strike rates for catching more fish.

Kids Fly Fishing 2-Day Class
We are excited to teach your child the art of fly fishing while enjoying the outdoors at Kern River Fly Fly Fishing School . Your child will learn casting, fly tying, knots, entomology, fly fishing techniques and strategies while enjoying the Southern Sierra and the great outdoors. Everything is provided for your child including all equipment and lunch for the 2 days they are at the school. The class is taught by a Certified Fly Casting Instructor with the Federation Of Fly Fishers.The school takes place from 9am to 5pm both days.

Carp on the Fly 1/2-Day Class
A very difficult fish to catch on a fly, many anglers are enjoyng the challenge of catching carp on a fly rod. The "Carp on the Fly" class is designed to teach fly anglers how to catch carp on a fly. The class teaches techniques, fly selection, presentation and spotting carp. The class takes place in the classroom and on the water with many opportunities to cast to tailing carp.

Technical Small Stream 1-Day Class
Technical small stream fly fishing is a great way to enjoy the day learning how to catch wild fish in a beautiful setting. In this class you will learn techniques and tricks to apply not only for small streams and creeks, you can also use these techniques on bigger rivers as well. Learn how to approach the stream, analyze the water, choose a technique, select a cast and present the fly in a natural way. In this one day class you will learn dry fly presentations, nymphing presentations and streamer techniques for small streams . You will also learn technical casts and proper mending techniques to help get a natural drift. The class starts at 9am and ends at 5pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
