July 14th Tying Class

Ryan and I want to send out a huge thank you to all of the participants in this last weekends SSFFC tying class. To Keith, George, Angie, Sharon, Brandon, Dana, Ryan and Derek: you were great group and we had a great time sharing the art of fly tying with you.
Half of the group had experience and the other half was either tying their first fly or fairly new. After discussing some do's and do nots for choosing and purchasing natural materials, we got into some tying.
Keith, George, Ryan, and Derek tied up some sweet looking Fur Strip Clouser's while Angie, Sharon, Dana, and Brandon worked on their basic techniques tying the Elk Hair Caddis and a couple of midges.
To finish off the class Ryan demonstrated some hair spinning techniques for everyone to see. Next class will feature a fly to tie with that technique if there is enough interest.
Please check out the slide show on photobucket for some pics of the flies and day:

A big thank you to Ryan and Rob for taking time to share their expertise and methods with our club members. For those who missed the meeting Sat. night they did an excellent presentation on back packing into the Golden Trout Wilderness with some beautiful photos of the scenery and fish found there. Thanks again guys.
