Eastern Sierra Trip
Jul 13th, 2012, 9:26pm

I've been incredibly lucky this summer considering I've been to the Eastern Sierras 3 times in the past 2 months. This trip was not all about fishing though. My lovely fiancée was with me so I made sure to include some fun activities that we both enjoyed.

The flows at Hot Creek were super low. Weed growth made it very challenging to cast across the water and snags seemed to occur every other cast.

On our hike to Skeleton Lake the scenery was amazing. Spotted many Brookies in the streams and lakes along the way.

The last day I fished the evening hours at Rock Creek and caught and released this pretty Brown. This was a challenging stream to fish since its lined with tons of overhanging shrubs and branches. I must have lost 4 flies in a matter of hours. I was amazed at how many fish I could spot in the gin clear pools. It was educational to watch their behavior.

No trip is completed without some delicious food. We got tired of eating our freeze dried meals and ventured out to sample the food at this joint. In my opinion it is one of the best cafe's I've eaten at in Mammoth. Some may know the owner for his famous sandwiches found in Lee Vining @ Whoa Nellie Deli.

Suck's that the water is low, but at least you caught some fish. Thanks for the recommendation on the Deli, will have to try it.
