Great report and nice fish....XJ...no kidding, California is so underrated. Everyone thinks you have to go to Montana or Alaska to hook into 25" plus fish!

Mike, Jon, I want to go next time. I've caught lots of brookies in New Mexico, I didn't know they came in that size. My float tube is ready, I'm heading over there next month to hit the EW and would like to check out some of those lakes. I heard rumors of giant brook trout, but didn't believe them. Great post.

Totally agree! I only fish outside California for the experience and travel, well mainly. BUT, if I was married or didn't have much vacation time as I do or $$ I'd be very content with simply staying in Cali and fishing. Plenty of big fish and variety of scenery, species, water etc to be fished.
Jon forgot to post I had a Sierra grand slam of sorts for the weekend, brook, Lohantan cutt, rainbow and brown
awesome trip and can't wait to go up again, in the Fall.

Absolutely beautiful fish. Thanks for sharing your story. I like the big Brookies. If I was up backpacking I would definitely put one of those fatties on the grill. They are beauties. Thanks for the pics I am totally envious of you.

Jon, those fish are amazing. I've had my float tube for almost two months and it's only seen the water once. I really, really need to get it back out, and it looks like I need to find a place like that. Thanks for sharing.

Although I had a wonderful experience helping at the Kid's Academy, there was a moment there after seeing the pics that I wished I had gone with you. Aside from the smiles of the kids and the great fellowship....I was at least close to fish that big
Ah....you always have had the knack of being able to use the term BIG FISH HUNT in a post and actually catch big fish! Glad to see our furry friend is still doing well at that location.
