Introduction-new to the area
Jun 10th, 2012, 10:04pm

I am not new to fly fishing, but am new to the forum and new to California and this seemed like the place to introduce myself.  I am from Oklahoma, and recently relocated to the area for work (Tehachapi to be more specific).  I have been fly fishing and tying for about 6 years and started building rods just last year, so  I was really excited to read a few posts on this forum and see such a good group of people with similar interests in the area.  I have been reading posts for the last several weeks, but wanted to fish the river before joining the forum.  I made it out on Friday and was fortunate enough to meet Sharon and Guy in the shop and buy a map and of course a Kern River Fly Shop Hat to bring home... After fishing an area south of the bridge on Friday and having a great day, I came right back out on Saturday and fished some of the water above the bridge and really enjoyed that as well.  I am definitely happy to know that in less than 2 hrs drive I can be fishing so much great water, it really is a great place .  I will keep it short, but it wouldn't be a proper introduction if I didn't ask at least one question though; Could somebody please provide me some information on joining the SSFC, or where I can get that information?  I'll save the fishing questions for later, once I have something to contribute and get to know some people...

Looking forward to fishing the area again soon!

Zac

Welcome to the forum Zac,

Great group in the ssffc.  Lots of knowledge and lots of fun.

I'm sure someone will help you out joining the club... you should come on one of the outings coming up.  California is full of beautiful trout water.

Welcome Zac......Nice Intro

I know that I joined by going to the fly shop and filling out my paperwork and paying the fee.  Pretty sure that you can still do it that way.  Either that or you can just come to a meeting......First Saturday of every month at 7pm.  Usually the meetings are held at the Chamber of Commerce there in Kernville, this past Saturday being the only exception that I can remember since I have been a member.  Lots of good guys/gals in the club, I am sure you will enjoy it.
