Took a quick trip up to the high country to enjoy some cooler weather and fish for some wild browns and our native State fish, the California Golden.
While the fish are generally small they are plentiful and offer great dry fly sport on light tackle. I brought out a big gun (a 2 wt) for these guys.
Here's a colorful little brown:
Here's a longer but skinny brown; they often look like this. Maybe by fall he will fill out a bit.
Here's a Golden posing in a bed of aquatic flowers:
Here's a Golden demonstrating how fiesty they can be and showing those striking white tipped fins:
The fish up here are as bold and beautiful as the scenery:

Very nice. heading up this weekend to same area. Only going to hike upstream about 6 to 8 miles. Looks like the river is still flowing well. Thanks for the pics
