East and West
Jun 9th, 2012, 7:38am

Last weekend I hiked to TBTNW with two fishing buddys.

This is the first sheep I have ever seen there, I have hiked up here for 15 years and never seen one.
WOW now the sheep skunk is off.
Caught a few fish too.

Played on the west Yesterday.

I love this time of year!!!!
Warm wet wade.
fish are active...

Nice pics, how far up on the east did you go? I would see sheep a few times once I was 1.5 miles above the bridge. How was fishing on east compared to west? When I was growing up we always fished the east, it seems like west might be better now. Maybe it is the C&R section that makes a difference and the lack of people looking for gold on the west.

Hi Rasputinj.
We where just before the bridge.
The east fork is not as good as it use to be at least for me.
The west seems much more productive lately, for me.

Mark,

Great shot of the sheep.  Makes me want to leave the West and head to the East.  I have never been up any farther that the parking lot on the East because it looked like even a bigger zoo than the West.  I guess I am going to have to give it a try on a week day.

  Thanks for the post,

Mark, I feel like I have to hike 5-6 miles to get into better fish, when I was kid and I fished there in the mid 70's I did not have to hike far, used to just hike above the parking lot 1/4-1/2 mile. I occasionally see people with better reports, I do worry that the silt from gold mining does not help things out. I also think that area should be C&R just like the West.

I am with you on that one. A c&r area on the east fork..
Interesting story about the East fork, I was talking to a guy who hikes the rough area at the top where the east fork starts and he told me that the color of the water (blueish) at certain times of the year is from one of the springs and feeder creeks. One in particular have lots of minerals coming out of it..
I always wondered why it has that color..

Sheep, eh?  Haven't ever seen one and I've made my way up to the Bridge a few times.

Thanks for the report.
