1. Minutes for the 10/17/2011 meeting are posted to KRVR.org, Upper Kern Fisheries Forum and
distributed via e-mail
2. Status reports for grants
All grants have been disbursed and completed with the exception of the following
a. Hatchery Wells: The lease agreement between Kern County and the California Department of
Fish and Game has been signed. The well driller will do an on-site evaluation next week. It is
expected that drilling will be completed this year.
b. Hatchery Genetic Plan: Funds for this plan were approved at the October 2011 meeting.
Report on status is pending.
c. Back up pumps for the hatchery wells SSFF ($17,000) This grant request was deferred at the
October meeting. Wayne Swanson, representing the Southern Sierra and Kern River Flyfishers, asked
about needs for wiring, a backup generator and other material that may be needed for support of the
breeding program for Kern River Rainbow this fall. Since there was no specific proposal, it was
suggested that the group reconvene with CDFG representatives and modify the existing proposal for back
up pumps if necessary. In the interim the proposal could be submitted to seek other grants. An
emergency session of this committee could be convened to address needs if they are urgently needed
before the next October meeting.
