What happened....you skipped a year for a question?

Pretty much a toss up and depends on your wading ability and willingness to take risks.  What little snow is above will be certainly be coming down the chute in the coming weeks.  Let us know how it is.

Will check with the station again, last week I was told they were opening the road this week.

Looking at the flow report, I would think it would be okay....but want to make sure.  I don't like to risk it Smiley

Check with the Johnsondale Ranger Station. I will be heading up that way this weekend to check the survey boxes and do a little fishing at R-Ranch. Wink

I called the western devide station and they said the road would not be open. Ruined my plans for opening day. If they do open it it would be great.

The Black Rock station said they are targeting to open it on Friday, but with a storm coming in tomorrow, it may or may not happen.

More to come.

With the flows as high as they are it might be pretty tough fishing up there, especially that rain is in the forecast for the area this week.

Good luck if you go...Ahhhh I love that area

I would not bother with the forks. If anything maybe try hiking way up the little Kern, and even so, that might be a little to high. Going to be sometime till that is really worth the hike down. Good storm rolling in with sub tropical moisture tapped in it so Run off may come in full swing in the next few days. I would say stick with the tributary's. Peppermint creek I am sure will be good and is pretty easy to fish if that road is going to be open.

Okay, I cry "Uncle". I've staggered around the Sequoia National Forest Website chasing most of the links and can't find said information about gate opening. Can you give me a hint on where I should look?
