Mine are in the mail with a scheduled delivery of Wednesday. Hopefully the West Fork fishies will like them.

Cris - did the USPS get them delivered on time?

Got the flies Richard.  Cool Perfect timing for your beautiful caddis flies.  These flies should definately do the trick.  Smiley

Thanks a million!

I'll look forward to posting pics of the kids receiving the flies... looking like the academy will be in May, but I'll keep you all posted.

Peace,
Cris

The logs of wood which move down the river together are driven apart by every wave. Such inevitable parting shoud not be the cause of misery.

Thanks for the follow-up, Cris. I typically have little faith in the USPS so I always like to hear that they did their job correctly. I'd love to get down your way this Spring and give those snowshoe rabbit X-caddis flies a try on the West Fork. I tried them on the Upper Kern on the 10th and found that they float okay and are pretty easy to see but there weren't any Kern River rainbows interested in eating them yet. Maybe later this Spring.

Cris, just a reminder I'll be bringing 2 dozen golden stone flies.  They are going to rip it up.  Peace Drew

If fly fishermen cannot have the best, we will take the least, and fish for minnows if nothing better is to be had.

That's awesome Drew... I thought we'd be doing a Kids Academy, but we are actually doing an Entomology Academy.

Throughout the day, the Kids will be identifying bugs using the pocket hatch guide and comparing them to real specimens.  Starting with a 30 minute classroom presentation where I have several different interesting excersizes planned with our Vial collection, and flash cards/ hatch guides as well as close up pictures of our specimens taken with my new USB microscope  Grin ... each correct answer earns the kids a fly that matches that bug, so the kids will pay attention.  The class is not very long, and will be action packed, but with the Flies as rewards going out every several seconds, it should be off the hook!  YOUR stoneflies will come in handy because that big ole stonefly will be a favorite vial, and I'll make sure each Kid gets a chance or two with that one. Richard and Brandts flies are also spot on for some of the other bugs.

THE REST OF YOU I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM.   Grin

If you signed up for this and thought you missed the deadline, you still have a chance to get them to me by May 3rd.

If not, I understand, but I'll have you know, it'll be worth your efforts.  If you want to change your fly, I'll tell you whats in the river now that we've now collected the bugs: Mahogony duns are staple right now (nymphs 14 and duns 14 or 12), PMD nymphs 16, BWO nymphs 18 or 20 /duns 18 or 20(tan bellies and light olive otherwise- comparaduns work real well), Bwo adults (male adults are orange butt transparent bodies black thorax spinners, females are rusty spinners), Flavinella nymphs 14 or 16, little yellow stone nymphs 16, brown and green caddis larvae 14.  It's a very exciting and diverse collection.

I'm so stoked about this....  Cool
