Kern River
Jan 9th, 2012, 1:36pm

Hello all,

Im trying to plan a trip to the Kern in the next couple of weeks..  I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a few patterns for this time of year?  I'm planning on tying a few midges.

Thanks,
Derek

Mabey someone else can help more.  I have no idea.  I don't normally fish there this time of year.  Call the shop.  I am sure they can steer you in the right direction.

Success in debate is not getting your point across or persuading others. It is measured by ones ability to see others' points of veiw as well.

Hey Derek,

Check out Guy's last report at the top of the kern river section. Most flies are small 20s and under, midges in olive and bwo emerger patterns. Try a stimulator with one of the emergers or midges as a dropper. Hope you have a good trip.

Thanks guys. Wish me luck.  I'm hoping that the warmer temperatures in the late afternoon will turn the fish into a feeding frenzy... Or, at least take a couple of my flies.
