Great to have  you in Richard.  We need more people to commit to this.  The winner will get all of the flies in a nice Montana Fly Company fly box with rainbow trout print. (Thats the box I am ordering).  We have an outside judge already.  So c'mon tiers.

Trust me, Richard, there would be nothing special about the way I tie up those flies.  Just hit and miss on my part. Grin

Of course my tying has been distracted by testing.  The testing has been favorable.

Two thirds of the Wooley buggers are done. The remaining 4 will be without beadheads and with little or no weight.

So, feel free to PM the delivery address.  Then, it will be time to concentrate on the camera and see if can bring them back home.

Hooray, the dozen “go-to” flies, i.e. Wooley Buggers are done (although only 8 are pictured here)  Four were tied heavy, four medium, and 4 light.  The heavy flies with the tungsten beads should provide plenty of up and down motion during stop and go during stripping.
The details are given (but are from memory since the packages are not near the computer).
Size 8 hook
4 mm Tungsten bead plus 25 to 30 wraps of 0.015 lead wire (others had no weight or minor weight and brass beads
Copper wire
Black hackle, chenille, and fluffy tail stuff.

These are go-to flies since they work in catching fish.  Of the many techniques for catching fish, fishing streamers is not one of more delicate methods.   (My other techniques could use improvement).
The personally tied buggers worked on Isabella lake trout.

In rivers, the added weight gets you get deep.  Fish are there, in this case a sucker (first fish caught on my own tied fly.

The buggers are also effective in small water.  The little creek fish like them as well as the lake, and river fish.

Not sure if all the other information is needed, but it is here anyway.

I also hear that Tarpon are very, very camera shy.

I've caught my share of tarpon in Key West (if "my share" means only one) Roll Eyes, and I can tell you, it was a real fighter.  I've caught larger marlin in Cabo that didn't fight as hard at that tarpon.  It went over 100# (estimated) but took about 75 minutes to get boatside for a release.  I only wish it was fly caught, then it would be cooler.
