Feb. Lower O Outing
Dec 15
th

Hey everyone,
Well, we had a very successful December outing, and the January outing to the Trinity is just a few weeks away, so I'd like to announce the February outing:
Who: SSFFC members
Were: Lower Owens
When: February 24-26
Camping will be COLD, but doable, or maybe we can start some room sharing options in this thread. This outing should be a blast.
Chris

Chris,
Put me down for a maybe on this one. I'll have to see how my schedule is looking once we get closer to the actual date.
Maybe I'll be able to use the new camping gear I didn't get to use on the Forks trip.

Sweet! Hopefully, your sleeping bag is rated for pretty cold temps...
Also, I sent you a PM.

We would like to attend this outing and I will do what I can to get my family there. We've stayed at a couple of the local cabins in Bishop in the past and will plan to do the same. We're just having bad luck dragging our camper anywhere. Our last trip to Bishop was in February, 2010, and this is a time of year we enjoy being in the area.

The last two trips in our RV, we had issues with the fridge, and the hot water heater. Hopefully after we get it back from the Repair Shop, everything will work properly, especially the heater for the Feb outing.

I'm hoping to find some time to get up to the LowO soon, I'm very much looking forward to this outing and plan to attend. There are several cheap (50 to 80.00) motels in the area. I usually stay at The Elms, it is pretty clean and cheap. My friend Mark likes to stay at Days Inn, down Line St. near the high school. The El Rancho is also a decent place to stay. The Elms and El Rancho are going to be the same price, Days Inn a little more costly.
As for fishing, I use bigger flies than most people do. Size 14 mayfly attractors and Pt's down to #18. I use midges that are smaller, but I also use midges up to size 14. I've been hearing that the BWO's are all ready coming off, those are normally 16's or 18s. Don't forget the emergers and cripples. Nice thing about the LowO, the fishes usually aren't super picky, get a good drift and you have a good chance at catching some pretty little Browns!!!
Chiaki, I'm not sure I can get Sue into fishes, but I AM pretty sure I can find her a cow pie!!!

We've stayed at El Rancho and the price is right for what you get. I've also stayed at the Holiday Inn Express with Matt. Higher priced, but you get a free breakfast, indoor pool and hot tub. Hmmm....
Here's some photos of Denise and Michelle doing quite well on our last Owens trip, in February '10.

Ok I'm out.
I checked my daughters color guard competition schedule over the weekend... they have a Comp. that weekend.
Chris, I saw your PM regarding the March outing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Man, I wish I could go on this outing.
Ohh well.
what outings are you going to plan in the summer? That's when I'll be able to go since I'm sure my knee will heal by then. Hope that everyone has fun!
