Bamboo Christmas gift
Dec 10th, 2010, 12:15pm

A gal ordered this rod to give her brother for Christmas.  When he was a kid, Grandpa gave him a Bamboo rod wrapped with red/black.  He kept it for years to have it rebuilt.  Ended up breaking it and kept the parts to have put on a new rod.  Lost those parts, so sister ordered him a whole new rod in the red / black.  7'6" taper, 2 piece/ 2 tip.  Red agate stripper and custom wedding band seat (custom made by Doug Daniel).  Add a presentation case, brass name plaque, logo and call her good.  Hope he likes it.

Yep, Gary that's your blank, at the top of the pict, all glued up

Thanks for looking,

Pete

I'm sure the rod will make for great memories on Christmas day.  What a cool gift.

I'll bet his eyes will be plenty moist (this will be the second time in a month a rod of yours has made a grown man cry) when he opens it on Christmas.  Another outstanding effort.
You are an amazing talent.

Very nice Pete! thats a Stellar looking rod, and your presentation case is just as beautiful. I noticed a little change in your cork shape is the new shape a trend or just for this build? The whole package is truly a PRO effort.  Cool

Pete -

The rod & case finished perfectly my friend. That rod was a pleasure to see the other day but finished in its presentation case makes a package which will certainly become another treasured family heirloom. Another fine rod from a true craftsman.

And by the way, that glued beauty "in waiting" was also a sight to see. I can hardly wait!

Coachscott,

It seems to be a shape that fits that particular taper.  Its a thin cigar handle.  I don't plan on using it on all the rods I build, but I am very attached to it  Wink
