Another Rod
Dec 10th, 2010, 7:44am

Here's a few picts of the second rod my friend Scott built for me. This one is a 7' 4wt built on a Winston taper that Scott got from Tom Morgan when he visited to learn the details of using his rod building tools. These pictures were taken before the final fishing coats where applied to the rod. I love the antique gold wraps with the black trim, they look even better in person. The rod has blued hardware. I'll have it out on the LO dry fly fishing for some brown trout this weekend.

Now I know one of the most important reasons people love their grass rods. When you get one and realize all of the labor that went into building it, how beautiful it is and connect that to a good friend it means somethng more. I will think of Scott and his love for fishing, nature and life every time I have this rod on the water.

I fished the LO this weekend. I didn't see any fish rising during the two days so I didn't get the chance to fish the rod that I was hoping for. Toward the end of the day on Sunday I got it out anyway to have a few casts on some open water. It really casts sweetly. Distance was no problem at all.  Can't wait to get a fish on with it.

Amen to that!  I saw them in person and the pics don't do them justice.
