2010 Rendevous Memories!

Another big gathering of fun and fishing. Thank you to everyone for attending and the organizers for making it such a great event every year! It really keeps getting better with the expanded Friday night music by Chris Miller, potluck, and the video presentations. All cool stuff!
Back to Back. Liam once again! Great job and the reason he’s the SSFF team captain.
Back to Back Junior division champ too . Grace Goslin again! It was very close with a Bill Darbee’s grandson second and Savannah third. Great job
Guy Jeans in shock after a custom built Pete Emmel bamboo rod and St Clair Hynes reel was presented to him. It was paid for by generous Southern Sierra Fly Club and kernriverflyfishing.com forum members.
Now it's sinking in
Raquel with her $100 donated by club members. We appreciate her and when someone needs to lay down the hammer to straighten things out on the forum , we can all count on the The Raq to get our attention!
Head or Tails contest for a free rod! What a hoot. No they’re not under arrest and some guys and can drink beer and hold their tail at the same time
Keith after winning the Bamboo Blank built by Mike St Clair and donated by Chiaki.
Sean after losing the same Bamboo blank! Martha this is the big one….
Jim presenting the casting award to the winner Mark Allen A Redington Fly Rod
Randy the perennial worst dressed winner. “I just show up in my best clothes and you guys keep giving me the award”
The auctions this year went HUGE. Thank you to the Woodward family for the generous donation of a week in their family cabin up in Montana!
One of the fly plate winning bidders, Ryan.
It was a joy to see so many young kids running around this year. It is one of the thing that makes me a proud member of the SSFF. We named this run Chair Rock Run
The young adults went nuts too. Fun for every stage of life.
The Southern Sierra Fly Fishers Club board members.
Thanks to the SSFF leadership for setting the Vous up but it wouldn't be possible without the awesome membership

Shane,
I had a blast and as always it was great to see you. Congratulations to Gracie, it's neat that she is dialed in on the fly rod. And I met your son for the first time which was very cool. Friday was a fun time and i can only hope that I can actually take vacation next year and not be scrambling up to kernville with a long list of things to do in my head... didn't leave LA till 330pm friday. I'm very glad that the Kernville outdoor movie screen actually worked... I'll store it safe and sound for next years vous.
Thanks for the memories, and GO GRACIE!
I'll talk to you soon. Cris

Looks like everyone had a great time. It's good to see lots of new faces continuing with the old traditions of "late night festivities"
Maybe next year for me.

I enjoyed it as usual. It's always a great time to see old friends! Didn't get to do much fishing, but that's ok. It was still really nice. Thanks to all who contributed their time and energy.
Regards,
KJ

First, I would like to say a big “
thank you
” to all of you that put on this great event. Without the time and effort that you contribute to pull this whole thing together, the rest of us would not be talking about how much fun we all had being there.
I know I had a great time and look forward to next year’s gathering! It was fun seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.

What Mark said! Thank you to all the DO'ERS in the club. Good to put faces with the names and exchange fishing lies with every one. The hardest part was breaking the news to my wife about how much money I spent.......all for a good cause. I'm waiting for those Jeans girls to start moving up the leader board really soon.
Job well done. thanks
Swanee

Bounce house!!!
cant wait for next year!
I had a great time. Didnt get to spend a lot of time partaking in the adult activities, but spent all day on the water Friday and Saturday got to take two lovely kids out for a few hours of flyfishing. I was able to get them into fish, and was amazed how the little 6 year old man was able to pick up casting. He is a natural. I got a lot of satisfaction teaching them how to release the fish, and explaining to them why its important. Kids, who generally have a more open mind, are easy to teach the right way to do things.
I would love to see this as a family event, and look forward to next years festivities!
Beer will always be there, but moments with kids only come once!
Those fleeting moments are the moments that mean the most... dont blink!
Thanks
Bill

Thanks for chronicling this year's 'Vous, Shane! Worth a zillion words!
Gotta' ask you: How did you introduce Gracie to flyfishing? With my six grandkids, I desperately want to get them started, but I have been known to screw up much lesser tasks, and frankly this is too darn important to err on the overly enthusiastic side!
Did anybody else have trouble recognizing Randy without his ponytail? We spent an hour perusing the Fly Shop on Saturday morning, and the guy we saw in his sartorial splendor had to have been Randy, but neither Sasquatch or I were positive enough to say hello. Then at the morning meeting, I saw him with Raider and we knew it was him! Who knew he was also the master of disguise?
