Casting Clinic Sunday Morning, 7/11/2010
Jul 5th, 2010, 10:40pm

Hey guys and gals.  If any of you are interested in honing your casting skills, I will be giving a clinic this coming Sunday morning.  Meet at the shop at 9:00 a.m.  All are welcome, from beginner to advanced.  Or, you can just come and just make fun of me... Cheesy

Regards,
             KJ

I will be at the clinic. I am a beginner and this will be my first chance to cast a fly rod.

Mayfly,
As Ryan said, welcome to the forum.
If you do not own a fly rod (with reel and line), please let me know so that I can provide 'em for you.  Smiley

Thanks for all the friendly greetings! It means a lot because fly fishing is intimidating without the help and mentoring of those with so much knowledge. All I have for the casting clinic is a Cortland fr2000 (just got it today). Very slow action fiberglass. The reel appears to have Sylk line with no backing. I would love to try any fly rods as I know nothing and have not cast anything yet. I have only a tiny bit of information from recent reading. If it makes a difference, I am a woman.

Of course it makes a difference!  You will learn more quickly than guys do.  Wink  Don't worry; just show up.  We'll get ya set up and once you've finished your lesson, you'll be ready to fish.

You are a real diplomat!  Would you take a few pics and post after the class?  I remember one of the classes I attended I caught a fish while practicing the roll cast.

Thanks for paying it forward.  You worked very hard for your certification.

Best casting advise I ever got, "to catch more fish, keep your fly in the water... fish dont live in trees"

pretty much the extent of my knowledge...
