Last year Riverphish gave a brief slide show and talk about building bamboo rods... left us all speechless.
I think a week long class would be just the "intro" class...
Building your own rod is very fulfilling...like landing a dry under an overhanging tree, with nearly a ripple... well not that satisfying, but close.
Do it!!!

If any of you are in the slightest bit interested in building your own rod, this class is a must. Fantastic price, all the tools needed are yours to keep, plus a rod. A fantastic dry fly rod at that. By the time you complete the class rod, you'll be able to build most any fly rod you want.
I took the class a couple of years ago, when Chiaki was teaching it. I've since built a handful of rods for myself, a couple for a buddy and 1 or 2 others. It's great catching fish on a rod you built yourself.

I caught a bunch of fish yesterday on a 3wt that I had built. It is an awesome feeling. Believe me....if I can build a rod....anyone can with the caliber of these kits and instructors. It is very rewarding.

That's funny, Jim. I caught a bunch of fish today on a 3wt that I built.

FYI: Sent a PM to President Bill looking for a class date. If we completely fill it or not, I think we need to give it a go. Oct. is the only month that is out for me.
