A Rodmaker's Dream
Dec 19th, 2007, 8:47pm

To All,

I have written a little poem for the Christmas season that I hope you all might enjoy. It is to be read at the tempo and rythym of "twas the night before Christmas... but other than the first word and ending sentiment, it is not plaigarized... enjoy... Cheesy

Twas a dark winter solstice while everyone slept,
out in the rodshop little gnomes deftly crept.
About their endeavor they silently went,
on trimming and dipping and wrapping they're bent.
Shavings were falling, all curly and yellow,
the strips were then glued by one surly old fellow...
"Not too loose, you will bend them. Not too tight they will twist!"
He supervised binding... well, you get the gist.
As out of the oven, the sections were taken,
the varnish was readied, gently stirred, and not shaken.
Ferrules were added to make the rod one.
Silk thread, over guide feet, was perfectly spun.
The tiptop, the handle and reel seat went on...
and suddenly PANIC, as now came the dawn!
Bolt upright I sat as I thought and I wondered,
"Was it me? Is it real? Was it my shop they plundered?"
I dashed to the workbench to look at my tools,
I'd catch them for sure, they're not dealing with fools!
Looking around me, not a culm had been stirred
though awakened abruptly, my vision was blurred.
A dream had just tricked me! I must make that call...
It was great while it lasted! Merry Christmas to ALL!

A special and profound wish for all to enjoy the spirit of the season...

Sincerely,
Mike
