Upper River Cleanup a huge success/pics
Nov 11th, 2007, 7:27pm

We had great turn out for the cleanup on Saturday with 45 people participating. We filled up 10 trucks full of trash and put a major dent in the trash problem along the upper Kern. Thanks to everybody that participated.
Organizations represented at the cleanup:
1. Santa Lucia Fly Fishers ( San Luis Obispo)
2. Deep Creek Fly Fishers ( San Bernadino)
3. Southern Sierra Fly Fishers (Kern Valley)
4. South West Council Federation of Fly Fishers ( Orange County)
5. Kern River Fly Fishers ( Bakersfield)
6 Sierra South Mountain Sports (Kernville)
7 El Jacalito Mexican Restaurant ( Kernville)
8. Halflight Productions (Kernville)
9 U.S. Forest Service (Kernville)

Brian Cosgrove talking about essentials for the cleanup

Carlos and Gracie provided the grub from El Jacalito. They brought Chile Verde, Fajitas, rice and beans tortillas and chips and salsa...yum yum thanks again guys

Congratulations to all who participated.  As someone who fishes the river fairly regularly, I appreciate your efforts.  Sorry I was not able to make it.

Again, thanks.

Congrats to all who made it and helped out in one way or another!  I wish I could have joined you all, but continued problems with blood clots in my legs have all but immobilized me for the past few weeks.  I'm hoping to be back on the river by spring, maybe sooner.  However, I'm glad to see that so many people were able to make it, that picture in front of the Troutfitter's is great!  As for El Jacalito providing the food, well, I know where I'll be eating from now on.  Maybe they will start stocking the beer from the brewery?  Grin  Jon

Very good Turn out, Wished I could have attended, but that work stuff sometimes gets in the way... Wink

However, in the Top Picture, isn't that a Cardboard container for "beverages" laying in the gutter in front of everyone???!!??  I certainly hope that was the first article of Trash picked up.. Wink

Very good on the Big amount of Trash removed from the River.. Smiley... Now if we can just get the Slobs who leave it to STOP DOING THAT, Things will be alot Better... Wink
