Trading?
Aug 17th, 2006, 1:01pm

Can anyone tell me about the legality of trading fur and feathers that have been procured using a CA hunting license? I'm pretty sure I can't sell them (and I don't want to) I shot 2 Pheasants and a Canadian Goose a few years back and have since been given 4 more Pheasants, a quail, dove and a few ducks worth of feathers with more on the way once hunting season starts. I won't use all of these in my lifetime or at least not in their usable lifetime and would like to trade them for materials that I would use. Namely dubbing and some synthetics.

How about a Gallon Ziploc of loose feathers for a snacksize ziplock of dubbing?
I have Kaufmans Black Stone, Olive, and a grey dry fly (the kind for Adams)dubbing and a section of racoon body that makes a creamy grey dub, so anything else would work.
The skins have been largely eaten while in storage but the vast majority of feathers are fine other than being loose. This makes matching lefts and rights hard if not impossible.
