This last weekend I stumbled upon a fly I tied a while back that was too easy to tie and yet produces 3X as many fish as anything else I was throwing in about the same amount of time.  
 
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Tiemco 200R size 12 (if there's no such thing then it was a 100R)
Red thread (6/0 or 3/0 whichever is thinner)
Doubled length of .015 lead equal to the shank of the hook.
Head cement (actually Sally Hansen Hard As Nails clear nail polish)
White marabou plume with herls stripped from 1 side. (Used the stripped herls to tie a Wooly Bugger)
 
Instructions:
Wrap thread the length of the shank.
Place doubled lead on the back of the shank (so it'll ride hook up kinda)and tie it down over it's full length.
End with thread at the start of the bend
Lightly coat wraps over lead w/ head cement.
Tie in the thin end of the Marabou plume at the beginning of the bend.
Wrap the thread forward to 1/8" behind the eye.
Wrap the plume forward (palmer style).
Tie off the plume.
Tie a head and finish with knots and head cement.
 
When your done tying, it will look like a widely splayed puff ball. When it hits the water and is stripped in, it makes a perfect sillhoette of a fat minnow like a Chub or Dace with a red nose.
 
Sunday I threw in a section of the lower lower river. 1st I threw a #14 Hopper for about 15 min and caught a 7 1/2" LMB before donating it to a tree. Then I threw the #12 Wooly Bugger that I tied with the stripped fibers for 1/2hr and caught a 8 1/2" bass and a 7 1/2" Bull Bluegill before donating it too. Then I switched to this fly and in 1 hour I caught 11 bass ranging from 7" to 11" with 1 of them coming from where I caught the Hopper Bass and another coming from where I caught the Bugger Bass. If this section held bigger bass (which it doesn't seem to) I think they'd hit it too if my skills were better.  
It has a nice action with a wavey thin tail and a fat body and is relatively weedless. I'm sure trout will hammer this thing too.
On a final note: I didn't see any indication that there were legal sized bass in the area. I did have my license checked by a bicycle cop on my way out. Nice to see someone checking.
 
Now what should I name it?

Wade welcome to the world of fly fishing....some days it seems it doesn't matter what you throw out there the fish will take it...and as you found out the next day you can get skunked using the same fly, technique and be in the same location....thats fishing my friend.... there's a reason it's called fishing not catching..

Wade, you don't need a digital camera to get digital pictures. When you get you film processed just request then on a CD also.  

A little sparser and tied on a smaller hook, but yeah that's pretty similar. I tied up a few more in gray, cream and "Golden" which is more of a rusty brown. I'm out of white, so if anyone wants to trade materials I'd be happy too. The 2 shops I know about here in town are also out of white.
